Naja Gewog Profile
Back ground
Nagya Gewog has total area of 151.8sqkms of which 10.5% is forest coverage and it lies in the south of the Dzongkhag. The Gewog shares the Gewog boundary with Shaba and Dogar Gewogs in the east and in the north Lungnyi Gewog. The Gewog also shares the Dzongkhag boundary with Haa Dzongkhag in the south west. The Gewog is connected with farm road to all of the chiwogs with the total length of 91.8 kms. The Gewog is electrified with entire households. Gewog has 100% mobile network coverage. The Gewog comprises of 5 chewogs with 22 villages under which there are 735 households in total. The Gewog has gentle slope with altitude ranging 2290 meters to 2700 meters above sea level. The average land holding per households is 3.00 acres most of which are Dry land .The Gewog has a population of about 3002 in which 1471 are male and 1531 are female.
The Gewog Administration is staffed with elected personnel- Gup, Mangmi and 5 Tshogpas, Gewog Administrative Officer, Gewog Clerk (Gedrung), Agriculture Extension officer, Livestock Extension Officer, Gewog caretaker, community center operator and BDBL office staffed with 3 officials. The Gewog has also one BHU, one central secondary school, two middle secondary schools, one community school and three ECCD centers. Further the Gewog has one GBP (Gewog Base Police) station staffed with four police personal.
