On 18 /7/2025 the Dzongkhag Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) in coordination with the Gewog Administration Officer (GAO) conducted a flood mock drill at Tsendona ECCD and a tabletop simulation exercise at Paro Elementary School.
The flood mock drill at Tsendona ECCD was carried out as part of preparedness efforts for institutions located in flood-vulnerable zones. The activity aimed to enhance the readiness of ECCD facilitators and children to respond effectively during a real-time flood event.
At Paro Elementary School, a tabletop simulation exercise was conducted as school administration proposed a change in the designated evacuation centre from an open ground area to the upper floor of the new concrete structure. The simulation helped assess the practicality and safety of this change and improve coordination during emergency evacuation.
These activities were crucial to strengthening institutional disaster preparedness and ensuring the safety of vulnerable groups such as young children.
