The District Level Awareness-Raising and Launch Event of the HI-CAS Project (Integrated Climate Adaptation and Solution for Hindu Kush Himalaya Region) was held for Paro Dzongkhag today, bringing together Dzongkhag Sector Heads, concerned Gewog representatives, and relevant stakeholders and project officials from the Tarayana Foundation.

The objective of the project is to strengthen climate resilience and promote sustainable livelihood for rural communities in Paro and Punakha, which is aimed to benefit about 8,250 people.

During the programme, the project officials highlighted the objectives, key activities, and implementation strategies, focusing on climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable natural resource management, and livelihood diversification. The initiative is expected to enhance adaptive capacity to climate change while improving food security and income opportunities for vulnerable households in Paro and Punakha Dzongkhag in the pilot phase.

The pilot project for Paro will be implemented in Tili village under Shaba Gewog, which has 48 households with around 350 people.
