Dasho Keiji Nishioka Memorial Chorten was established in honour of Late Dasho Keiji Nishioka, in recognition of his 28 years of dedicated service to Bhutan from 1964 to 1992. The Chorten stands as a lasting symbol of his valuable contribution and the enduring friendship between Bhutan and Japan.

The Memorial Chorten was renovated and developed with appropriate traditional and cultural elements and was formally handed over on 17 June 2026. The Consecration Ceremony was held on 28 August 2026 under the coordination of the Dzongkhag Administration, Paro, with support from relevant agencies.

The visit of H.E. Ms. Kunitmitsu Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and delegation on 8 September 2026 is particularly significant as it honours the legacy of Late Dasho Nishioka and further strengthens the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Bhutan and Japan.
