Shaba Gewog Profile

Shaba Gewog lies in the Centre of the Dzongkhag. The Geog has an area of 76.40 sq. km and has a boundary with Lamgong Gewog in the North, Lungni Gewog in the West and Dogar Gewog in the south. The Gewog experiences warm summer and cold winter with snow falls . The soil is brown, Sandy clayey loam in nature. The highest altitude recorded in the Gewog is 2850 metres approximately and lowest altitude recorded is to 2200 metres approximately above the sea level. The 90% of the population is dominated by Local people (Ngalong) and 10% are from different Dzongkhag .All Chiwogs are connected with farm roads.
The Gewog Administration is provided with an Administrative Officer, Accountant, Engineer and three RNR Extension Officer to support the elected members to achieve all the planned activities. The Gewog is dominated with number of Cultural & Religious sites among which Dra Karpo and Dongkala is one of the most happening buddhist piligrimage site. The Gewog is fully electrified and none of the village is left without electricity.
The iconic Bodhi tree is also located above Gewog Office .
