The 12th Bhutan Coronation Marathon held on 2nd June, 2019 at Paro was a huge success. To mark the auspicious day, before the award ceremony, the Officials gathered offered Karmi Tongchoe (1000 butter lamps) for long live and good health of His Majesty the Great Fourth.

 

The Flag-off time for 41km men was at 6:am, 6:05 am for 21km men and 6:10 am for 21km women.

 

Sangay from RBA emerged as the winner of the 42 km men. He completed the race within 2:40:38. He took away a cash prize of Nu.40,000 and in addition he received an electric gas cooker from Druk Garden.

The 1st runner-up, Gawa Zangpo, took away a cash prize of Nu.30,000 for completing the race within 2:42:1, and Nima Yoezer took away a cash prize of Nu. 20,000 as the 2nd runner-up by completing the race within 2:50:04. Both runners are also from RBA.

 

For 21 km women category, Goma Pradhan took away a cash prize of Nu.20,000 as the winner for completing the race within 1:26:17, followed by 1st runner-up Dorji Wangmo completing her race within 1:49:18 and taking away a cash prize of Nu. 15,000. The 2nd runner-up Karma Zangmo completed the race within 1:50:44 and took away a cash prize of Nu. 10,000.

 

For 21 km men category, Kinley Tshering came out as the winner by completing the race within 1:15:15 and taking away a cash prize of Nu. 20,000. Dechen Ugyen, the 2nd runner-up took away a cash prize of Nu.15,000 after completing the race within 1:15:25 and the 2nd runner-up Jampel Choda completed the race within 1:16:18 and took away a cash prize of Nu.10,000.

 

Dasho Dzonga, Chief Guest, Dasho Dranpon, Dasho SP, RBP;Dasho Tenzin Dorji;RBA, Dasho Dzongrab, BAAF president gave away the cash prizes, medals and the certificates respectively.

 

The top 10 runners for the 42 km men, 21 km (men/women) were also awarded medals and certificates. The regular runners were also acknowledged with certificates and medals.

 

The BAAF president also awarded a plaque of Coronation Marathon to Dasho Dzongda for the contribution and coordination made by Paro Dzongkhag for 3 consecutive years of Marathon at Paro.
