The Bhutan Center for Media and Democracy (BCMD) team was in Paro Dzongkhag on 29th June, 2019 for the campaign launch of Vision and Mission of Paro Town. The BCMD team was lead by Aum Soik S Pek-Dorji,the Executive Director of BCMD. Honb'le Finance Minister and the Member of Parliament of Lamgong-Wangchang were also present for the occasion.

Dasho Dzongrab, Dasho SP;RBP, Gups, Dzongkhag Sector Heads also attended the event. Other relevant stakeholders (Town representatives, Municipality Engineer, Teachers, Students, Private NGO members) were also present to witness the launch of Vision and Mission for Paro Town.

Theatrical Show.

 

Dasho Dzongdag, Dzongkhag Administration Paro was the Chief Guest for the event. The event started off with the recitation of Tashi Tsekpa, an auspicious prayer. After that, Aum Soik S Pek-Dorji gave an introductory note. She highlighted the importance of inclusiveness of all relevant stakeholders for the campaign launch of Vision and Mission for Paro Town. Each and everyone of us has a role to play in the development and achievement of the Vision and Mission she added.

 

Relevant stakeholders gathered for the event.

A signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the relevant stakeholders also took place. Than after a theatrical show was presented highlighting the scenario of globalization and modernization.

An interactive session was held after the theatrical show to understand viewpoints/takeaways of respective individuals from the show that was presented. Majority of the individuals understood from the show that there is strength in unity and one must look at development activities holistically keeping in mind that we are a part of community; "I am my community".

In the closing speech, the Chief Guest Dasho Dzongda also reiterated the importance of having a sense of belonging to the community. He added that all must work together to achieve the overall goal of the Vision and Mission for Paro Dzongkhag, that is to be a safe, clean, green and a culturally vibrant Dzongkhag.

The event came to an end after a photo session followed by signing of pledges. A Vision campaign with Mikhung bag were provided to all present. Refreshments were also served.
